1.1. What is the New Membership Initiative?
a. Description
Retroactive to August 1st 2012; every new member will be assigned a veteran member as a mentor. The role of the mentor will be to introduce the new member to Hogwarts by telling them about all major threads, events, classes, important people to know, etc. and by introducing them to other members. New members will take any questions they have about the forum directly to their mentors; any questions the mentors cannot answer should be brought to the staff or prefects. A mentor will be relieved of their duty after their new member has successfully signed up for a class and submitted a homework assignment.
b. Goals
We are introducing the New Member Mentorship initiative with the following goals in mind:
- Making all new members feel welcome and included
- Eliminating cliques and exclusive groups
- Encouraging older members to get more involved in the forum by assuming more responsibilities
1.2. Organization
a. Mentors
Mentors will be older members who volunteer for the position. To be considered a candidate for a mentor, you must be able to answer the following questions:
[/li][li]- Name 3 staff members.
[/li][li]- Who are the Heads of House?
[/li][li]- How do you access your house common room?
[/li][li]- How long does one class last?
Mentors will be assigned no more than 2 new members at a time. When you receive a PM giving you the name of your new member you have one week to make initial contact with the member.
Once the new member has successfully enrolled in a class and submitted a homework assignment, you will be eligible to take on another new member.
b. New Members
New members are defined as people who are brand new to the forum as of August 1st 2012.
When a new member has posted in their character’s sorting ceremony and been approved they will be PM’d the name of their mentor. Within one week they should PM a member of the administration team if they have NOT gotten in contact with their mentor.
If at any time through the mentorship process the new member feels that their mentor is not providing them with the best experience possible they can PM a member of the administration team with their concerns.

To join fill out the appropriate form below and PM it to Me (WeasleyTwinMom). Please allow for 2 weeks to be matched with a partner before you PM me to ask me why you haven’t been matched please! Additionally, please remember to include if you are applying as a mentor or a new student to avoid any confusion.
