As a new member of the forum, you are, most likely, extremely overwhelmed at this point. Well, luckily, you don't have to be. This simple guide will explain everything you need to know with regard to the forum.
First thing's first, you have to create an account. You can do so by clicking the "Login" button up at the top of the forum. Just fill out the form and you're all set. Fairly simple, huh?
And now, to one of the most helpful sections of the forum: the mentors section. EVERY new member MUST have a mentor before they can gain complete access to the site. To get a mentor, please click the link below:

Your mentor will aid you throughout your first experiences on the forum, answering your questions, showing you where to post, etc.
Moving on to...the sorting hat. The staff has recently decided to set up a "Sorting Hat Quiz" for all of our new members to take. Unfortunately, members are not permitted to sort themselves. There are further instructions on this thread:

Next, you can modify your profile, an easy task which can be accomplished by following these directions:

Lastly, you can submit your student application and begin participating in classes. Before we begin discussing classes, a short note regarding your application. If your application is approved, a staff member will reply to it, stating as such and assigning you a "Student I.D." Your Student I.D. is EXTREMELY important, and will be used to associate homework assignments with the correct member. Classes play a major role here at Hogwarts. Each class lasts for a total of five weeks. Homework will be assigned each week, to be completed by a certain date. At the end of the four week period, a final exam will be administered. You must pass a total of eight classes before you can advance to the next year, and, eventually, graduate from Hogwarts. Before each term, every member must enroll in the three (or less) classes that they wish to take. Enrollment is crucial, as students will not be able to participate in classes if they missed the enrollment deadline.
